Where mind, body and soul benefit from time spent with horses.
The Creston Valley Society for Therapeutic Horsemanship
Formerly the Creston and District Society for Community Living's Therapeutic Riding Program
Purpose: To promote health by providing mounted and unmounted therapeutic equine-assisted activities to individuals diagnosed with physical and mental health conditions such as autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, sensory processing disorder, or learning disabilities. To do all such things as are ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above charitable purpose.
A Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA) accredited centre, the Creston Valley Society for Therapeutic Horsemanship offers riding lessons to folks of all ages and abilities who need to ride for therapeutic benefit. Lessons take place during an 8 week spring session, two four week summer session and an 8 week fall session.
Located at 851 Erickson St., the facility consists of a small fenced riding ring for safely conducting riding lessons, a 100 x 200 fenced riding arena, a covered tack up area, fenced paddocks for the horses and access to trail riding through orchards and around the Spectrum Farms property.
Therapeutic riding is a unique program that uses horses for therapeutic benefit. While learning riding and horsemastership skills, people with mental, emotional and/or physical disabilities gain a host of benefits. Riders may participate for a variety of reasons: rehabilitation, skill development, fun, recreation, and may even compete.
